I've got East Bay Grease and the Anthology CDs. Wondering what I might/could/should get next. I feel like TOP can be a little hit or miss, but when they hit, oooooh, boy!!!

I think What is Hip is by FAR my favorite of their tracks.... Killer bass line. Mind-bendingly fast.

I crank them all the time, they are one of three things that make me feel great in my music world!  Come on over and grove with me! I would love to meet some more "TOP" fans!!! I have the DVDs!!!

I discovered them with "Bump City" back when it first came out. I really liked "You Got To Funkifize" and "Down To The Nightclub" on that, but to me a lot of the others sounded a bit like filler. I felt the same way about every other album I've heard by them - one or two great songs on each and the rest disposable. 

I'd like to hear that Sheffeld Labs disc, though. I don't think I've ever heard them in what could be called real high fidelity.

Also...in that vein....check out music by WAR, and the Average White Band...two good groups.

I like Tower Of Power's 1993 album T.O.P. myself and their 1991 Monster On A Leash.

Soul Vaccination Live will make a dead man dance.  Absolute workout for your rig.  Wonderful recording, incredible energy, great songs... what more is their?

I own 17 TOP CDs including the Sheffield and 3 side projects and my favorite is  Soul Vaccination, Tower of Power Live.

I've also seen them live more than a dozen times and this CD captures it all.

I've got to find that one... I love me some T.O.P. When I was a kid, it seemed that everyone had a brother, who had a buddy that had a cousin's friend, that had a brother who knew a guy in Tower of Power.

I don't have a ton of their albums but would readily recommend T.O.P and Soul Vaccination Live.
