Hi all,
It's been a while since I've posted here. My system is continually evolving, and after doing some significant mods to my speakers, I've recently discovered a few significant room treatments for my system (
http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?vevol&1188229613).
#1: Don't forget to treat your seat! I have a large leather sectional, which causes audible reflections at ~1khz and up. I found that simply covering the entire backing and seats with a large chenille blanket really helps. I might look for something thicker... Ethan's chair covers are very nice, but $450 is a lot to treat the entire sofa (and only for serious listening).
#2: Every first reflection point absolutely needs to be treated. I was originally absorbing only the left speaker / left wall and right speaker / right wall reflections, but I observed more detail and balance after placing ASC StudioTraps at the left speaker / right wall and right speaker / left wall reflections. Very nice.
Happy New Year, everyone.
