How is your PMC Speakers configured in your room?
« on: 8 Jan 2009, 02:52 pm »
Hi All,

I have a pair of PMC OB1 and just curious how people have theirs setup for 2 channel listening.

How far apart are they?

How much toe-in?

Thanks in advance,
Levi
p.s. I have read the instructions and PMC FAQ but wanted to know how you have yours configured in your listening room.

I have my IB1's 8 ft apart and about 1 ft from the back wall.
I sit so that I form an 8 ft  equilateral triangle with the  speakers.
My speakers aren't currently toed-in but they probably should be.
I think James recommends that a normal to the speakers baffles should
cross about 2 feet behind the listeners head. My current setup has a very small
sweet spot but that's fine for my listening. I was concerned about sitting so close
but it works really well. I think sitting so close actually negates some of the shortcomings
of my room.

Thanks Jethro.

I just measured mine and I currently have 7ft apart (measuring from tweeters-to-tweeters) and 2-3ft from the wall.  I sit 8.5ft away and slightly toed-in crossing 2ft behind listeners head.

So far I like what I hear.  Perhaps, I can move the speakers around to see if I like the change in sound.  Maybe do an equilateral triangle like your setup.  Hmmm...

My speakers are about 9ft from each other making an eqilateral triangle with listening position.
Speakers are in the middle of the room.
Listening position is about 3ft from the rear all glass wall with heavy courtains.
Sweet spot is not too big but very linear reponse.
In the very corners of the room bass is overboosted.
10 ft behind the speakers it is way too much bass as if you were in the machine room of a big boat!
I am very happy while my neighbours are much less happy with me!
