BBC Genius of photography on youtube

I found this link on youtube, and it is very interesting. The series went through the history of photography and took you to the site where most of the famous shots were taken, like the railroad station in Paris, where HCB took his jumper shot...
Or when you read about the camera obscura in photography book, but never actual saw it, they will show it.

Anyway, I thought somebody might enjoy looking at it.

Hey!

Yes, that was a great documentary series. I saw them a while back. If I remembered correctly they were shown on Ovation TV channel here in NYC, US :D

If we are lucky I'm sure they will rerun them again. :D I think there were 6 parts.

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

Hey Buddy,

I know you would enjoy this documentary. You could watch the whole series by following the links posted by rangefindergeneral. He has marked each segment of 10 minutes or so as Episode 1 Part 1 and so on until the end of the series.

Those are great, I think I've watched most of them.  I really wish more people made Playlists of multi-part videos, though.  A common YouTube problem.

I've thought for a long time, that an interesting documentary series could be to interview and show photographers working in various genres. One episode  would be on sports, another fashion, commerical, etc. They could haul in some of the 'names' like Annie Lebowitz, Walter Iooss, David LaChapelle.......

Be interesting to see the process they go through to create the final image. I really regret not going and assisting for some big shots when I was young, just to see how they approach things.
