Just finished watching MEET DAVE, the story of tiny aliens who come to New York City in a spaceship modeled after their captain, Eddie Murphy, for the purpose of finding the Lost Orb which was to have dropped into the ocean and sucked it dry so they could recover all the salt for their dying world. I've seen quite a few Eddie Murphy stinkers so I wasn't expecting a miracle with this one but it turned out to be a cut above some of his other work. Not a large cut but I find quite a few moments of laughter and i generally liked the flow of the movie. It was nothing special tho, an atypical Eddie Murphy vehicle but just because I did laugh a lot with the supporting cast(not so much with Murphy tho), I'll give it a 3 out of 5 stars. :thumb:

I think you mean "Meet Dave"...and I have to agree with you here. I expected pure crap. In fact, I rented it accidentally. Turns out, there were actually a few scenes that had me laughing, and the film had a good heart overall...so, not a total waste. On top of that, I have to admit a small thing for Miss Banks  :thumb:

I probably give it closer to a 2.4/5, but still could have been much worse!

Yeah it wasn't as bad as I expected, especially when viewed more as an older children's family movie it was enjoyable enough.  But Eddie Murphy makes me laugh sometimes just by looking at him.

I've seen it on the shelf and decided to wait until I have no other rental options. In fact, I think I'll wait till it hits the library.

Ya'know Bob I felt the same way. I had bypassed this movie at Blockbuster figuring I'll just way til it's on the premium channels. Then last nite after footaball I just got into the need for my funnybone to be tickled, probably from having some buttons pushed here by the children. Couldn't find nothing on the premium channels so i gave this PPV flick a shot,,, ended up watching it twice. It went straight to the funnybone, just what the doctor ordered. :thumb:
