Need Info on CJ Premier 17LS preamp ASAP
« on: 1 Jan 2009, 06:17 pm »
I have a chance to buy a CJ 17LS that is supposed to power up but doesn't have any output.  Anyone know anything about working on these?  What tubes does it use?  How does it sound?  How's CJ's out-of-warranty repair costs, etc., and how expensive is a remote?  All help is welcome, but I have to act fast!

Thanks,

Bob (not the one in STL)   :D

The Premier 17LS (which I previously owned) is a very nice linestage. Good resolution and three dimensional imaging with great harmonic richness. A bit laid back. It uses 6922s.

CJ service is excellent although I don't know what they charge. The remote is metal and not cheap (about $150 if I remember correctly).

Another alternative is Bill Thalmon at http://www.musictechnology.com/ . Bill worked at CJ for 20 years and is extremely knowledgeable.

Great!  Thanks.  If I get it it will be used with a Moscode 300 and Maggie 1.6's.  I wonder if a cheap universal remote can be made to work with it?

Too late.  It was already sold at $500.  Damn.  Oh, well, the hunt continues........

Thanks, all.
