SP2 balanced output impedance?
« on: 31 Dec 2008, 04:30 pm »
Hi,

I was wondering if someone could confirm the balanced (XLR) output impedance of my SP2.  I've searched this forum and found several different values (based on bp-20/25/26 series).  Values I've found are 25 ohm, 110 ohm, or under 50 ohm.  I may have a need to drive a very particular load on a balanced amplifier circuit.  The non-inverting pin of the XLR would drive a 42k ohm load, but the inverting pin would drive a 2.4k load.

Thanks,

Aaron

The manual specifications show 110 ohms.

The noise rejection of a balanced circuit relies on the matched output impedance and load, so your mismatch will work fine, but will decrease the noise rejection of the circuit.

Special attention should also be made to using short interconnect cables to avoid response problems because of the low load.
