Hi all
This guy ordered a Valab DAC in November and then a UPGRADED (1ppm clock version) in December his upraded Dac didn't sound as good as the original, when he took it apart he found it was missing the 2 orange pieces on the bottom (check pics and story below) what are these pieces ??
Thanks!!
"My second Valab ( 1ppm version) is still not sounding as great as my first one does. That first dac (late November version) sounds superb, even better now i dug out an old Versalabs Woodblock and a Harmonic Tech power cable for it ! , its really quite magical.
USB out Foobar WITH Asio4all IS the way to go , on XP Asio4all or similar to bypass the dreaded Kmixer is a Must
This USB -I2S- dac thing really works
Anyways I pulled both dac boards out to have a look see .
The first dac has two extra parts on the underside !( orange colour) not present in the newer dac. i have emailed Kevin about them and what they do but no reply as yet.
Anyone know what these 2 parts do ?Other than that the parts are the same ,except for a changed heatsink on the dacs and the new 1ppm clock crystal. its soldered same too.
