The Airport Extreme, as a wireless access point/router, runs the 802.11n wireless standard which gives it a theoretical maximum wireless throughput at 154 mbps. It also supports wired gigabit ethernet (1000 mbps). Both bandwidths are fully capable of supporting two channels at 24-bit up to a theoretical 384 kHz sampling rate (18.4 mbps). Unlike an Airport Express, it does not support Airtunes and cannot be used to stream to as a media receiver.
