"It is one of those few pieces that makes such an obvious change in a rig’s performance. What it has done for my family room rig has been so pleasing that I am giving it my highest recommendation by making it a permanent part of the system"

Greeting Ian,

I tried accessing the site via the link you included in you posting and got this:

You do not have permission to access http://www.affordableaudio.org/aa2008-12.pdf
Data files must be stored on the same site they are linked from.

I'm not a computer guy, so I'm not sure what all it means, but I'd like to read the review, if you can supply another link I'd appreciate it.

Best Regards and a Merry Christmas,
TerryO

Thanks for the heads up Terry. I forgot that Affordable Audio's server doesn't allow linking. You need to go the main page www.affordableaudio.org and download the Dec. 2008 issue. The entire e-mag is a great read as always and as a courtesy to AA :) reviewed products are not published outside of the AA site while the current issue is current.

re: your signature, ever hear of Dave Dlugo's (Planet 10 Hi-Fi) phrase 'FrugalPhile'. I really like that one and one day there will be a site by that name.

Merry Xmas,
Ian

Hi Ian,

Yes,
Dave beat me to the FrugalPhile name and I got stuck with the far less glamorous "CheapoPhile", which I'm understandably reluctant to use

Dave is a modest sort of guy, unpretentious and unassuming, and usually abstains from mentioning his recent ascendsion to the status of an Audio God. In a formal setting, he is correctly addressed as: His Frugalness, Dave: the"Living God of Garage Sales."

Returning to matters of this Mortal Coil, how's the weather up there? It's still snowing around here, but then, up your way people are used to dealing with weather that would and just about has, shut down our whole area.

Best Regards,
TerryO

You mean formal settings such as the Annual Vancouver Island DIY 'beer' Fest ? :) Typically held in August, which I finally recovered from last week. Are you going to tell me I met you there?

I was in China and came home to 18" of snow and sub zero (F) temperatures last week which haven't lifted yet. Most of our airports are suffering as it is basically across Canada. This is not quite normal for us either. Fortunately I have lots of tube amps or big Class A SS amps to keep the toes warm.

Cheers,
Ian

Ian,

You may not remember me, as Ruth and I were the only people not drinking and I'm not a particularly memorable individual at the best of times. :duh:

We've got about 17 inches of snow here, but the power is still on, which is about a first. The last time we had a snow storm we were without power for an entire seven days. It could be worse.

Best Regards,
TerryO

Hi Terry, hope you had a great Xmas,

A photo helps, did you bring some gear with you? Ruth is a great lady and host. I really enjoyed the DIY fest and everyone I met, lots of laughs. I've seen your TerryO elsewhere, probably DIYaudio.

Guess I'll see you again in August if you are going and Rachel will let me. She did catch wind of a few stories :)

Cheers,
Ian

The DIY Fest?

As the ancient historian, Olsonius the Elder related:

To ascend through the mists of the lofty Mountains to the Halls of Fortress Dlugos can be likened to a transfigured entry into an Audio Valhalla, where the Warriors do battle each day and then gather for feasting and drinking in full fellowship at night.

Future generations will gather around the hearth to hear the legends and tales of that remote age where the Titans of Tubes and the Solid State Samurai were met and the valleys resounded with the thunder of mighty strokes and rang from the sound of smartly turned blows. Who will remain unmoved upon hearing of those feats of Analog Audacity and Digital Daring that were performed at that time, and yet, were regarded by those ancient heroes as the mere common currency of the day? Was there ever, before or since, an age such as this?

Don,

Kevin and I repeatedly charged up the narrow confines of the driveway only to be blasted back again by Cal's "artillery."

I now have additional respect for Marshal Ney's repeated attempts to charge the British line at Waterloo

To make matters worse, Cal claimed that he'd left his "Really Big" speakers at home and instead brought his Mini-system that merely filled the entire back of his pickup truck...Hmmm.

Best Regards,
TerryO
