6SN7 is the last tube I would want to see in power output stage. Have you seen the crazy 6SN7 prices these days? Knowing audiofools, people will be using octets of TungSol roundplates or Sylvania metal bases in the output stage, and *retubing* them every year or two A more worthy cause would be to find and use some cheap-as-dirt but great-sounding tubes for power stage IMO..
The 6N7 looks to be a great tube for making a mid-power push pull triode amplifier. Nothing much is said about it. The plate to plate resistance is only 5K, so a wide variety of OPT's can be used. It would even make a nifty SET amp!
I would like to know why it isn't used more often too. Has anybody used it themselves?
6N7 or 6SN7?6SN7 needs no further introduction. 6N7 is a dual triode with shared cathode. Its designed as a class B driver, good for ~10w. I was just looking at it last week.
I think the 6n6 can working in 10 w class b (fixed bias)
I have a small stash of 6N7's - wanted to make a Class A headphone amp... but it didn't make the top of the list....yet...
I will have some information on this tube soon, first hand.
