Dakion thread on AA - Not good
« on: 20 Dec 2008, 07:53 pm »
Regardless of what you think of the man, his products and the like this is both disturbing and a little funny. It should serve as a caveat to buyers of his items. His Audiogon ad with this as a first paragraph should be a good warning by itself:

"""DakiOm products and DIYs are for music lovers only. Scammers/deluded audiophiles/wire-nuts please go away. We don’t sell to scammers and fools who lie defending their pretense that their BS and delusions are to be respected not to be criticized. This pretense is typical snake oil propaganda to avoid verification and to make their snake oil respected. They should know that delusions and lies are the same."""

Dammit Jim I'm an audiophile not a.................

Here is the link to the AA thread. The issue is that the Dakiom website says products can be returned for a full refund but it doesn't seem to be happening that way. The thread includes an email back and forth between the buyer and the company.

As the thread says scroll to the bottom and read up to have proper chronological order.

When I'm in the mood for a good laugh, I like to read the Dakiom ads on audiogon.  They always cheer me up.  I have no idea whether the products work or not, or even whether there is any sensible physics behind what they are doing.  But their marketing approach is just fantastic.  It's as though the guy drinks about a quart and a half of scotch and then plunges himself into a stream-of-consciousness tirade about people making ridiculous-sounding claims while marketing gadgets to audiophiles, and completely fails to realize that he is doing exactly the same thing himself.

Personally, I'm not going to check out the thread on AA as it's bound to upset me.  Regardless of who is right or wrong, who is honest or dishonest, nobody ever comes out of these things looking good.  I hope there's been some misunderstanding that will soon be cleared up.  In particular, I hope that the dakiom guy can emerge without a completely tarnished reputation, since it would be a shame if his prose were ever to disappear from audiogon.

Regardless of what you think of the man,

It's fairly clear what you think of him. But was it really necessary for you to send him an abusive email?

After reading Dakiom's Agon ad I gotta say that is one strange marketing strategy. And you say you tried his products?
You should file a dispute through Audiogon.

That's one heck of a sales pitch Dakiom has on that ad!
