I just discovered that bi-wiring the POSITIVE speaker leads from amp to cabinet or simply using 10 gauge speaker wire produces a more dynamic listening experience through the omega alnicos.

For the longest time I've tried to figure out why the 6" anlico bookshelf speakers sounded better with the dynaco's 22 watts than the manley's 22 watts connected to the xrs 6" alnicos. Now I realize the omegas just plain sound better with 10 gauge solid copper speaker cable than 12 gauge. However, doubling the 12 ga leads from amp to speaker nullifies that advantage.

If you want thick wire, consider Anticable. It's the only wire I've ever had on my Omegas, so I have no direct comparison with any other spkr cables. But I can tell you it's very heavy duty and cheap (especially if you purchase without terminations and go bare wire connections). Solid copper and very low dialelectric. Kent

I'm using 12 ga anti-cable on one system and 10 ga anti-cable with the other.

A friend stopped by the other day and said the difference between one set of cables going to the positive and two was noticeably better to him as well.

Next I'm going to experiment with a length of 10 ga unterminated cable in place of the two terminated 12's.

Unterminated is also the most pure connection you can get. Only issue is over time you will need to clean or possibly cut the last 1/2" off and re-terminate to get rid of oxidation. Progold or silver solder could also be used to minimize oxidation. For now I'm going bare wire.

Thanks for trying this out with the solid core. It really works and I heard the difference right away with the internals. The other cool way of going is the 4 wire DNM and using the 2 for positive and just on on the neg. The other Neg can be wired on the amp end only . This might be good. Need to try it out. I heard that they have a heavier gauge now.
