Don't forget, Magnepan has been around since before there were expensive
power cables roaming the Earth.

When I Bought my MG-2s, back in about 1979, my local dealer had just
gotten in some new speaker wire that was $2 a foot!  Which was crazy, because
if you shopped down the street at the mid-fi store, they'd give you 20 feet of
Monster Cable for free!

So I walked out of the store with $35 worth of Kimber Cable's first speaker
cable and never looked back..

Magnepan is a great company that's been doing their thing for a long
time now!

:D what would it sound like if you used two sets of speakers at the same time, the Maggy 3.6's with Danny's new OB  big driver speaker.would your system sound scrambled or fried, the speed of a panel and big bass of the OB's   :D  do some people actually use more than one set of main speakers ???? :D

The Maggies are "nice" but compress dynamics and need BIG watts to work well thus limiting/complicating the choice of amplification.

Why not just go hi-eff/OB??   :dunno:
(for less $$ too)

If you stabilize the panels and choose a quality subwoofer to blend in with them, you aren't giving up that much in dynamics at all. As with any speaker, no one type or model is for everyone. But those of us who have experienced the Magic are more than willing to put a little effort into the surrounding cast of equipment because we know that you aren't going to find the same experience in another type of transducer.

Yep, I bought the same speaker in 1978 along with some Polk Cobra Cable for speaker wire (BTW: STILL the best speaker cable with tube amps I've ever heard).
Not knocking Magnapan in my previous post though I do think there are alternatives if one wants to do a bit of work to get something that sounds even more like real live music.

Sterling Trio Loudspeaker - A collaboration between Darrel Hawthorne, builder, and me.
"Best" is very subjective/individual judgement.  What I can easily say is that these are the most enjoyable/musical speakers I've ever owned and possibly heard.  My former Infinity IRS Betas and other speaker systems may have done some things better, but lacked the "You Are There" quality that the Trios deliver in spades.

PM's gladly accepted from those who'd like more info.

Happy Holidays!
