FS: 24v Aikido PCB, PSU... **sold **
« on: 8 Dec 2008, 12:50 am »
I'm not going to be needing this preamp/headphone amp after all, so time to find a new home for it.

The bundle contains the following items:

O - Rev A of the 24v Aikido PCB for use with 24v supply and 6gm8 tubes.  Can be built as a preamp or headamp, or both as the two circuits are separate sections of the board. Brand new, never soldered to.

O -  Very high grade industrial duty Acopian 24v 1 amp modular linear power supply with exceedingly low ripple and superb regulation (has remote voltage sense inputs)  This will deliver 3 times the current that the pcb requires.  Brand new, never used.

O - 4 pcb mount heat sinks and Linear Technologies regulators for headamp output drivers.  All brand new.

O - 4 ceramic 9-pin tube sockets with gold plated pins and a sleeve of 5, tested, NOS 6gm8 tubes

O - appropriate manuals and documentation.

Asking $175 for the whole lot (shipping in lower 48 and paypal included in that).  The PSU alone would cost at least that much.

PM or email for details or questions.

Thanks,

Jim

As Ross Perot used to say, "I don't have a dog in this hunt!"  But, I just wanted to pass on that Jim is an EXCEPTIONAL person.  While I can't use this particular item, if YOU are thinking about it, you'll find no finer gentleman to deal with.  This looks like a GREAT price on VERY high-quality items!

Sincerely,

Bill Thomas

Bill,

Thanks for the vote of confidence.  Glad to see that you were able to sell the SCA-35 -- I'm sure there's one very happy new owner out there.  Only wish it could have been me :D.

Take care,

Jim

Don't know Jim but I have a 24v Aikido and it is an incredible piece. In our preamp shootout it was considered more detailed than the Manley Shrimp but some found it fatiguing (might be my cap choices and the fact that it has few hours compared to the other pres).

An excellent unit.

I can also help out sourcing tubes as well as they are kind of a pain to get ahold of.

Very tempting - if I hadn't just built a Pass B1, I'd be all over this.  Even with the B1, I'm still tempted...

Bill,

I know, I know, but I just don't need a preamp right now, but I do need to raise some cash.  Zacster also has nothing but good things to say about his 24v aikido pre.

Brad, temptation is good :D.

As the owner of that Manley Shrimp, I am tempted by this sale too Bill.  Just wish I had some spare cash in my pocket.  Would make a heck of a nice headphone amp especially with that linear PSU.
