Which SS/Hybrid integrated?

I'm thinking Ayre.  It's not 100 pounds and has balanced inputs :)

I'll second that suggestion.
From the list of choices,
it's the one that I would buy.
And I am a tube guy......whatever that means.
YMMV

There are only two amps in the same league on your list, the YBA and Ayre.  You should listen to them both, if at all possible.  I own the YBA.  It can be a little lean if not matched with a good CDP and cables. However, it's a very musical amp with great detail, rhythm and tone.   I've never seriously auditioned the Ayre.

From the list provided I would go with Ayre or Simaudio. Obviously try and audition if possible or buy used to limit your exposure.

You might want to read Denjo's epic search for an integrated amp, too  :thumb:

I bought a Pioneer Elite SX-A9 for the princely sum of $799.00 a few weeks ago and it is terrific (I have used only as a tuner/preamp thus far...paired with tube monoblocks).

It's only 55watts/8ohms, but it is regally smooth sounding if you pair it with easy-to-drive speakers in a small/medium room.

It's class A at low levels (up to a few watts) so the sound tends to luxurious, rather than ballsy :)

Remote, dual mono with dual transformers, honeycomb build and short signal paths too (with analog direct that switches out all tone controls and lights in the path that can much up sound), and MM/MC phono included (the MC is not as good as standalones, but the MM section if fantastic...the equal of standalones many times it's paltry $799 cost)

Enjoy - John

I've followed that thread but the accuphase is just too much :)  And I'm not just talking about money either.   Too much extra stuff that don't help the sound and drives up the cost.
