That Sharp 1-bit thing-a-ma-bob!

Ok, I bought one of those Sharp SD-SG11 all in one things. It arrived today and I'm ready to admit it's the coolest thing ever. I've got it hooked up to a pair of System Audio bookshelf speakers [very good speakers!] and some Audioquest interconnects and speaker wire. It sounds fantastic. Now, my question. I thought I had read someone say that the unit can be programed to change color on it's own every day. I see how to change the color manually, but not automatically. Can anyone explain how to do this?

Merle, I'm still looking for speakers for mine.  Where did you get yours?  How much did you pay?  Are the SPLs up there?  Thanks.

I bought my speakers used on Audiogon. I believe they retailed at around $800. I'm not sure if System Audio has a U.S. distributor at this time or not, but if you can find them, I highly recommend them. These are the best small speakers I've ever owned. Just from the limited time I've been listening to the Sharp, I would think the Triangle Titus would be a dream match. Very high resolution and very easy to drive. The Sharp puts out plenty of volume with the little System Audio speakers in my bedroom but please remember, I tend to listen at low to moderate levels. So, do you know how to set the display to change color every day? : )

Yeah,  every morning when you wake up, hold down the display button.  Press enter when prompted for ColorChange.  Choose color accordingly!

Apparently, one of the sites listed this feature which is only offered on the system that replaced the SG11, the SG40.  Though I doubt you would want to pay $1300 for that added feature

One of my "drop shippers" currently has them for $139 plus shipping, but who knows how long they'll be available

I found this other doohickey and wonder if anyone has listened to it before...Sharp SD-EX101.  Seems to be the same thing-a-ma-bob with speakers sans the md player.

I've heard it.  The speakers are terrible...

I just bought one from http://www.planetminidisc.com.  Buy.com is sold out and minidisco charges 10 bucks for shipping.  Funny, I got charged tax.  Are they all in CA or this new internet tax thing passed already.  I'd be comparing it to my gaincard, another 25wpc amp.

I also bought one from http://www.planetminidisc.com.   Shipped promptly, but only charged my $3.95 for UPS ground shipping :D .  It's a X-mas present for my son, so I have not listened to it.  Hefty box. I am looking for a good pair of bookshelf speaker that I can pick up for under $150.  Cruising eBay and AudioGon, your suggestions would be appreciated.

I would take a serious look at the Paradigm Atom. I think they retail at $180 so you should be able to find them at the $150 mark. Together with the Sharp, they should make a great little system.

Although I am having trouble selling off the gear I have now, I had to see what all the buzz was about and ordered the Sharp from Mindisco.com. The unit arrived today and I was unpacking it in the office while a couple of reps were in visiting me. One guy thought it was so cool, he offered me $200 for it right there. I told him I wanted to take it home and play with it a bit before I decide to sell. I have it hooked up to a pair of blue Norh 4.0's. Although their sensitivity is a little low for this guy, it sounds pretty good and certianly looks cool. Having second thoughts about selling it now  :D Even if I do decide to sell it, I will have to wait until after my new Omega Grande 6's arrive. It should be perfect to use to break them in and will save a little life on my tubes.

OK, so I received one of these things on Monday.  I plugged it in the main system briefly today.  The speakers are Carolina JTM, Konus Essence replicas.  Usually, it is powered by a Gaincard.  Without going into differences in sound quality yet, how come the Jordan drivers verberate intensely with the Sharp, but it hardly moves with the Gaincard?  I don't have an SPL meter, but I am pretty sure they were playing at about the same volume.  It is because I drove the Sharp too hard?
