Question about changing power cords.
« on: 24 Nov 2003, 07:29 pm »
I currently have Virtual Dynamics Basic Power on my amps and Power 3 on my cd player and tube preamp. I have been thinking about upgrading my power cords for a little while. I was wondering if anyone has tried VH Audio cables. In particular Flavor 1 for my cdp, flavor 3 for my preamp and flavor 4 for for my amps. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.  :D

I tried the Flavor 4 w/the gold plated Wattgate's in my Clear Image T4 and it outperformed my Jena Labs cryo'ed Tice PC3 w/ Highwire Wirewrap tuning device.  The flavor 4 is quieter, cleare, w/more extension and deeper, tighter bass (soundstage increases towards the back wall, as it should w/ good cables).

I use Flavor 4, on my transport and Dac. I really like it, the fact that's it's a 100% copper quad twist design that's been cryo'd really makes it perform. It would probably work very well throught out an entire system with a senergy effect.

I also use 2 cryoed flavor 4 PC's on my Butler 3150's. I use cryoed flavor 3's on my c-band satellite receiver, Sony DVD player and my Sunfire TG3 processor. A standard flavor 2 w/o ground wire graces my Velodyne subwoofer. I've had limited exposer to a variety because Chris's cords have done everything I wanted in the clarity of both my audio and video. That and I have confidence that the clean power from my BPT is staying clean on it's trip to the components. And I LOVE the price point! Regards, Robin

I use Chris's cords throughout my system, (amp(x2), pre, cdp, iso tranny), and find that they are a subtle yet quite noticable improvement in terms of quieter background and bass clearity especially. And they are fun to build. In terms of bang for the buck I highly recommend them. Also, Chris is a great guy to deal with. He always answers my questions promply via email.

I have made the VH amp PC, quite interesting to build and good value for the $$. I have also heard the VD PC's as well.  I am not so sure if your move to the VH is an upgrade as it is a sideways move. I would keep your $$, save up, and put it towards a component upgrade.  Have Dan Wright mod your CDP for 6 bills maybe??
