Having the week off, I have finished the main body. Tomorrow, I will work on the SAMM (stand alone motor mount).

With platter off

Starting to look like a Kuzma Stabi S, but in wood instead of metal.

Nice job!

Thanks Bob and richidoo!

Last night I discovered I had a wee bit of motor noise traveling through the belt, along with the deeper bass. Damn, this thing has got nice bass. Anyone think their AT is top heavy, uh-uh. John, TCG will be proud of me as today I stuffed about 2 pounds of plasticlay in it's tiny innards. No more noise. Plasticlay is a vinylphools best buddy.

I think the project is complete, less some minor tweaking. The motor position has changed because the magnetic field was influencing the cartridge and moving it to the new postion put it further away. This also changed the way it looks and functions, with the tonearm toward the rear. I really don't mind the arm position as it is easy to get to the cueing lever and on/off switch.

The SAMM (Stand Alone Motor Mount) was brutal to make with almost 2 hours of solid machining at the drill press.

As you can see, the SAMM is completely seperate from the table and is very quiet.
