I was going to get myself some software for speaker network and box design and i was just wondering what the 'best' was?

seems a lot of serious DIY'ers are using something called Calsod.... but i was interested in your opinion on the subject!

thanks

You may as well start with something free... Unibox is very nice for modeling boxes, and there's a basic crossover designer on the FRD consortium. (Don't ask me for links, use Goooogle!)

The BEST?

If you're looking for the best, and the best will only do, then LEAP speaker design suite is clear all around most complete system available. but be prepared to pay...and pay...and pay... for it.
Now, if you're like the rest of us, and there is no such thing as cost-no-object, then other applications like Winspeakerz and BassBox Pro (with XOver Pro) are good choices, and can be had for a couple hundred bucks.

There is also the availability of a lot of Freeware, which of course is often objectionable. However, I've been using WinISD Pro recently, and have had good luck with it. It already comes loaded with about 150 drivers in it's database, and you can add your own with the T/S parameters. It does ported, sealed, multi-driver (up to 10), but only really focuses on the bass/mid-bass. It doesn't incorporate upper freq drivers into it's design. But hey, it's free.
