Id like to give my two cents, which can be summed up as "average at best". Let me list a few reasons why and for the record, i think craig is great.
1) Poor opening sequence. Bond movies must have a killer opening. Anything less does not do justice to the franchise. think skiing and wally bogner or the great urban building thing from casino royale. This opening here was a generic generic car chase, which is available in almost any two bit action flick. Zzzzzzzzzzz
2) No gun barrel shot. It may be corny but i want to see that shot just after the opening.
3) Way two much "M". M's job and sole job is to give bond the directive or job and then disappear until he/she interrupts bond in the last shot conoodling with the hot babe on a deserted island, raft etc. Here, M pops up on the screen every ten minutes or so to give us an update on the plot for those who cant or dont follow. Way too annoying. M is not a main character and here she diverts from the plot. Personally, i think it would have been great if they had connery, moore or dalton play M. Would have been a goof. Dame judy does nothing for me here.
4) No moneypenny. Yeah its corny but its also needed. Get with the program or go totally off the board modern and make moneypenny a guy. dont ask me why but someone like the gay or pesudo effeminate character like "kenneth" from 30 rock.... heresey but would be funny as shit. No offense ment to anyone or any lifestyle
5) As stated above, too many shaky camera angles and quick cuts.
6) no Q, no cool technology....
Who ever said it felt rushed, had it right on. Just seems put together way too quick.....
Finally got around to seeing this - rented the Blu-Ray.
First about my setup - Sony PS3 as my Blu_Ray player output to my Sony 40XBR800 and to my Outlaw 950 for 5.0 sound. Wow this was a great experience - granted, I was sitting with my head about 8 feet from the screen, but the picture was phenominal. I have output set to 1080i which is all my set can do, but whatever interaction took place between the Blu-Ray player and the extensive digital processing capabilities of the TV, this picture looked fantastic. I can wait a little longer before getting my 60" TV...
I had to turn on subtitles because I could not make out the accents and rapid dialogue in some scenes. Other than that the action scenes were great and the plot kept moving. I knew this would be different Bond movie so I hardly missed point 2,3,4 and 6 above. But you are right they
should be in the movie to keep up the tradition. I did miss the gun barrel shot at the beginning but noticed the placement at the end instead.
Cinematography and locations were excellent - I must get to Sienna!
I didn't notice the shaky camera too much especially compared to that last Bourne movie -
that was too much.
Entertaining, but not sure what the dark mysteries of his motivation are. It's good to get the bad guy. Still worth the time to me.
And watching the extras, I leaned that I should have watched Casino Royale before this one - so that will be next movie.
