The PIO RIAA caps relate to the Cornet or Cornet 2 owners.  I have 10 sets of paper in oil K40Y9 caps for the RIAA circuitry.  Anumber1 posted on a different forum that the Panasonic film caps in 630v are no longer available from Digikey.  So these PIO caps would be a go to piece if you are contemplating a C2 kit purchase.  RIAA PIO caps for Cornet or Cornet 2 are $6.75 for a set of 4 which includes 2 each of 0.001uf 200v and 2 each of 0.047uf 400v K40Y9 capacitors.   I have been using these in my Cornet 2 now for nearly a month with superb sonic results.  These come highly recommended vs the Panasonic caps.

Here is the current teflon cap availability:

0.022uf 200v   $2.25
0.10uf 600v     $4.75
0.22uf 600v     $6.75
0.47uf 200v    $13.75

I am not sure how many more of these caps will remain available.  The teflon caps now appear to be thinning out like the K40Y9 paper in oil caps.  If you are on the fence you should buy these soon.

BTW the K40Y9 caps are in such short supply I cannot make them available as a group purchase item at this time.  This should be a warning sign.  If you want PIO or teflon caps you should purchase these soon.

If you are interested in teflon caps then email me at jim_howard_pdx@yahoo.com for additional information.  This will be the final cap order for 2008.   More importantly, unless further stocks materialize, these may become harder to find.  They were built back in 1990-1992.
Cheers.

Here is an update on the previous teflon group purchase.  All of these caps are now shipping out and i have emailed each person with their tracking numbers.  If you have not received a tracking email from me then please contact me immediately at jim_howard_pdx@yahoo.com.

The recent cap order is a done deal.  I hope to have these by the middle of December.

I did order a few extra of the 0.10uf 600v teflons and the 0.015 and 0.022uf teflons for those late adopters.  I also have PIO RIAA caps for the Cornet and Cornet 2 folks that would like to try them.

Happy Holidays everyone!  I have sent out teflon caps to about 100 DIY types like us!  I have only had one that said the teflons did not improve the sound enough to remain in the circuit.

99% satisfaction!   Now that is a testimony to how well these teflons can perform.

BTW I want to hear all the good, the bad and the indifferent for these teflon caps.  It is useful to the group at large to know how they perform in our systems.

Just wanted to let everyone know that this is the real deal. James is a class act and the teflon caps I ordered arrived on time and were impeccably (sp?) well packed, including wood supports so the capacitors did not arrive cracked or broken. Exceptional!

Will report on how it sounds in the near future...

Best,

Anand.

I agree with Jim's level of service- and quick communications.  I recieved a shipment of teflons to play with, and was really suprised to find them strapped to a piece of wood, well padded in the box.  I've paid a lot more for some fancy parts that have just been shipped loose in the box...

Thanks to everyone for their kind words.

I figure over 100 diy nuts have teflons now.  I know we will be hearing more and more about the teflons as people get a chance to spin them in.

Caps are arriving now from the most recent group buy.  One box was delayed due to the fact that the FT-1 0.015 200v are now history.  Some orders might be delayed until the last couple weeks of December.  I will email each of you personally with options if you want what I have received right away.

I am ordering some K40Y9 PIO 0.01uf in 630 and 1000v as replacements for the FT-1 0.015uf caps.  I am also ordering more of the RIAA PIO caps.  I originally started with 24 sets.  I am now down to 4 sets left....when I get the extras I will have enough for another 15 sets.

I have a few teflon caps unspoken for.  If you want additional caps please let me know.  I only have a small surplus but I am happy to get them out to you if you passed up on the previous group buys.
