Best For the $$$$$ Center Ch.
« on: 6 Nov 2008, 10:03 pm »
Was wondering what the thoughts of everyone was on the best center channel they heard and why. I am currently looking for a new center and was wondering what people thought. Don't want to spend over $1000.00.

Speakers i have are the Vandersteen 3a Sig's. Thanks for any and all advice in advance.

In order to get a balanced presentation, it's best to stick with the same type of speaker. tonal balance gets skewed when a different speaker is used.

Agreed 100%.  The center is the most important speaker in an HT setup and should be tone/timbre equivalent of l/r speakers.  I'd ask Richard Vandersteen.  I single 3A on it's side (dunno), or one of his VCC center channels from his home theater groupings.  The VCC-2 is one I've seen on Audiogon in the past.

Just in case you need a third person to chime in, I'd agree with the fellas about matching the center to the mains.
Totally.

None at all is the most cost effective, and IMO in alot of cases the best irregardless of $.  This coming from a phantom center user of ~ 2 years.
