Good resource for fasteners...

I found a good resource for those elusive little fasteners such as button head socket screws at J&R Hobby Hardware.  They specialize in supplies for R/C DIYers, but they happen to have quite a few little fasteners that I use in building amplifiers.  The great thing about this company is they charge the actual shipping cost for orders and have no handling charges or minimum orders.  Also, they have screws in reasonable quantity packages and the prices aren't stupid IMO.

So... if you tire of paying high S&H for small fastener orders and don't need hundreds at a time, try these guys:

Be warned:  If you use paypal as I did, the online order form will generate an overly high shipping charge.  As promised, J&R refunded the excess once the shipping was calculated manually on their end.

Thanks for this!  I've been spending a small fortune at bolt depot over the last couple of months.  Really a small fortune with shipping.  I am glad to have another choice.

Your welcome.  I misspoke regarding a minimum order though.  You do have to order at least three bags of screws (about 12-18 screws total).   :D

I've always been into RC stuff, and knew about the cool things RC'ers get like anodized aluminum acorn nuts ... so I've been shopping a local RC store for awhile when I need some nuts or screws with bling :)  That is a nice link though, good selection of stuff.

Another place to look for high quality and attractive nuts/bolts is a Hot Rod shop.  Usually you can find just about anything there that's either been anodized in whatever color you want, or polished to mirror finish.

Another place I use a lot is:

http://www.rtlfasteners.com

In general, they seem to have roughly the same sort of things, but in threaded brass inserts, for example, RTL offers the 2-56, 4-40, and 6-32 like the place Henry mentioned, but also 8-32, 10-32, and 1/4-20.  Prices look approximately the same, maybe a bit better at RTL.

If you sign up for their newsletter you get discount coupons on quantity purchases from time to time too.

Just another resource to throw into the pool.

Henry,

Howdy neighbor! Thanks for the link. I second McMaster Carr as well, they have most anything related to screws, sockets, etc...
