Help ID old AC 3 way speaker
« on: 6 Nov 2008, 03:06 am »
I found a pair of what are (according to the foil label on the woofer) some kind of Audio Concepts 3 way speakers. There wasn't anything remotely like them on the ACI website so I was hoping someone here could tell me what model they are since they don't have any model name or number on the cabinet. They are at least 15 years old since the woofer foam has rotted away.

Quick description

MDF cabinet roughly 3ft tall with angled front baffle and flush mounted drivers
10" concave dustcap woofer labeled AC10
small midrange with tapered rear cup
Vifa metal dome tweeter with fabric/foam ring
Audioquest internal wiring

The crossover/terminal panel is glued on rather sloppily (ie too much glue was used) so it may have been assembled from a kit (if this model came in a kit).

Thanks in advance!

Hello:

You're describing a G2R. Thousands were built in late 80s and early 90s.  Crutchfield sold a lot of them about 20 years ago. And they were sold by us as a kit. I'm pretty sure they were all oak or walnut.  We have a replacement woofer available.
