A friend in need

I have a close friend who owns two Dynaco St 35 amps.  Neither one is behaving.  I'd like test them and replace whatever caps/resisters/etc that they need.  Can you recommend a site that gives instructions on how to test/rebuild these amps?

He has a Behringer crossover, that I talked him into buying, that has died.  The issue is nothing analogue.  Can you recommend a plan to get the digital side fixed?  It is not under warranty.  It is a $250 unit that was very popular when it came out, until people started to realize they break easily.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

Yahoo has a Dynaco discussion group:

http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/Dynaco/

You’ll have to become a member; there are some very knowledgeable people on the forum.

Also, Curcio Audio has some guides, mostly for the ST-70, IIRC the 35 is a smaller sibling to the 70?

If they still have the selenium rectifiers, I would carefully replace them!

Lots of mod, update driver boards and other info all over the web too!

Joe

Don't know about the Behringer, wonder if it would have to go back to the factory? Maybe a schematic would be available?

Maybe this AC member could help:

"The Dynaco Refurbisher and reluctant tube seller."

I'm clearing out a VERY large closet in order to reduce my load of "tube audio stuff."  If you have a Dynaco product from the "Classic Period" and need help getting it back into good condition, I may have the parts or tubes you need.  I spent quite a few years collecting this stuff.  Now, as I approach geezer status, it's time to simplify, consolidate, and eliminate the "excess baggage."  If you need high-quality tubes for your Dynaco product, e-mail me at nostubesforyourdynaco@gmail.com.  I also have many rare or hard to find OEM style parts for most of the original Dynaco products.  I hope I can be of service to you.
Dave Thomas - He has a Dynaco amp for sale.
