Dear Bryston,

I am looking at purchasing a Torus RM20 unit in early 2009 and I am measuring my current stereo cabinet to ensure that it will fit.

My rack opening is 22" x 17.5" x 10" (W x D x H).

The Torus Manual states that the RM20 (Model No. A024-ACB-A1AB) is 19" x 15.5" x 5.25" (W x D x H).

However, the website states that the dimensions are 19" x 17" x 6.25" (W x D x H).

Which measurements are correct?  I can probably squeeze the unit in if it is 15.5" in depth, but 17" is probably too deep.  I really hope the manual is correct.

Cheers,

John

Hi John,

My RM-20 Torus is:

19" x 16" x 6" (with feet)

The front has a curved silver center section on the faceplate and that sticks out about another 3/4 inch making it 16.5 inches.

James,

That leaves me with only 1" front-to-back clearance.  There is a cut out on the back of my cabinet so it is possible for me to put the cords through the back opening.

Do you have a technical drawing for the RM20?

This would allow me to be able to tell the distance between the back outlets and the bottom of the unit and would allow me to tell if the outlets line up with the back opening of my cabinet.

Best,

John

James,

Thank you for the dimensions and PDF file.

My opening is 22.5" W x 17.5" D x 10" H.  I will have to place the RM20 unit on a 2" platform to allign the outlets with the hole in the rear of the cabinet thus reducing the overall height to only 8".  There are glass doors on the cabinet, but I generally leave them slightly open when listening to music.  Should I be concerned with venelation for the RM20 unit?

Please advise and thank you,

John

Hi John,

I have a 15 amp Torus unit behind glass doors in my upstairs TV/Stereo system and I have never had an issue with heat.
