I will be going to audition some Plinius gear tomorrow on Reference 3A Grand Veena speakers. Should be fun  :thumb:

Cool!

Keep us posted.

Lots of good comments on the Grand Veena speakers from RMAF.

I certainly will.

The dealer also has some Focus 788 Signature Series speakers. I do not believe I have ever heard the Focus stuff so it should be cool. Better than working thats for sure

Ok guys, I am in need of some help. I am having a very hard time trying to figure out what my next amplifier should be for awhile. I would like to stay around the 6K range and have no issues buying used. I simply do not have the space for monoblocks so it must be a stereo amp. I have run tons of options through my mind (as many here can understand  ) and this is what I have come up with as my list (in no particular order). I would obviously love to know other's thoughts...

Plinius SB301
Bryston 14B-SST
McIntosh 402
Pass Labs X350.5 (seems difficult to find used right now and I have also heard it does not have great woofer control)
BAT VK600-SE (not wild about the dual power cords)

Some of my system (full system listed in my signature):
Kef Reference 205/2's
Modwright Transporter
Modwright LS 36.5

Call Klaus Bunge. He's actually built a dual monoblock setup that's in one case. That and the fact that none of the amps listed will sound as good as the Odyssey

So I had a very fun day today  :thumb: I was able to get a very good feel for Plinius gear. I listened to the Focus Audio 788 Signature Series. They retail for 6K and by far is the best speaker I have heard in that price range. They use they top of the line Revelator tweeter and an excellent woofer that I can remember right now. It is a 2 way floorstander so they only play to about 45-50 hz but the midbass is excellent. From the treble up the speaker is unbelievable for its price. I would love to hear some of the larger models.

The Plinius gear was seriously jaw-droppingly good. I dont want to go to overboard but I was way, way impressed!
The combination of that speaker with all of the Plinius gear was the most transparent, grain-free, and musical system I have heard in quite awhile.  It didnt sound like tube, it didnt sound like solid state it just sounded right. Wow
I will put up more detailed thoughts when I have time but wanted to pass along a few initial thoughts...

System I listened to:
Focus Audio 788 speakers
Abbingdon Music Research tubed cd player
Plinius Tautoro pre-amp
Plinius SA-REF amp

This was the tube based cd played that I listened to today. It was incredible. It weighs 80 lbs  :o
