New Neo-2X boxes available soon.

Eric has programmed his CNC to cut some really nice cabinets for the Neo-2X. These can be cut from MDF and veneered, or cut in timber strand material with only the front baffle and rear area veneered. The front and rear baffles can be painted in a black lacquer or whatever the customer wants.

The pictures really don't tell the whole story since it is just the middle section. The front and rear baffles will be slanted. The top will also have a slight downward slant from back to front. It will look really slick when it all comes together.

I'll post more pics as they are available.

Just a suggestion...Why not include "alignment holes" so you could use wooden dowels and perfectly stack the MDF sections. Perhaps most DIY'ers would be more competent than I.

I would *love* to have access to a CNC machine. I would like to try to create my "dream speaker", which would be a 3-way, time and phase aligned "monitor" that sits on top of a powered sub "speaker stand". Top-notch veneers. However, in the end, but I'd probably just create a lot of expensive sawdust and damaged high-end components. Keep posting the pictures - I'll live vicariously through your talents.

Cool stuff, I'll be interested to see how much these end up costing.

Wow those look great :o very nice work indeed, I'm certainly tempted but I guess shipping to the UK would add quite a bit to the cost.

I will be keeping a close eye on this thread  aa

Those look great!  (as I struggle with making boxes without the use of a NC machine)

Since it looks like the Neo1X has the same internal volume, could this be easily adapted to make a 1X cabinet with a port and smaller woofer opening on the baffle?

Can you cut them in baltic birch? That would make for a sweet looking cabinet with the edges exposed on the stacked pieces.

Around here, Menards carries the good 13 ply, 3/4" BB for about $65 for a 4' x 8' sheet. MDF is ~$25.  I think you could sand, stain and be done with it though with the BB--a time saver for sure, and would look great. A quick Google search leads to these decent looking DIY examples:

Nice - should be the bomb for Danny's kits.
When I win the lottery, I'm going to buy a CNC machine. :green:

I think I heard somewhere that sealing the edges on all of that layered baltic birch is pretty tricky.

Can anyone confirm that?
