I could care less about Aduiogon's policies. What I want to know is when Audiogon and PayPal are going to finally crack down on the sir charge of PayPal fees! This is wrong from the get go, and every seller knows it. Once the price has been reached that's it period! The only thing that should be added to the total cost is shipping.
I've also run into a small handfull of somewhat shadey dealers selling stuff on Audiogon everyday. So what I think they need to do is to finally crack down on all the sellers on there. Set up a policey that everyone has to stick with, or go somewhere else (remember it's their board). The 3% charge is crap, and borders being illeagle, and many of their auctions are very suspect (as Ebay).

Yes I have, some time ago.. and updated it as I went along, installed new features etc. I'm getting ready to make another announcement (here and elsewhere) soon as I work to implement a completely new UI for the site, all based on member's comments and suggestion. I expect it to be ready in about two weeks and I think you guys are going to love it.

It is NICE!

I'll give HiFiHock a whirl the next time I want to sell some gear.  It's a bit busy on the front page to tell you the truth, and I dislike all those little GIF "play buttons" for the links to the different categories.  Would prefer cleaner, brighter, happier.  But ... that's just me, and I know this isn't a HiFiHock feedback thread. =)

Wait until Dragan launches the new site.  Much cleaner.

Disclaimer--I am not affiliated with HiFi Hock, just a satisfied user.

Peace,

Lee

Just registered with www.hifihock.com today and posted my first ad. Shortly after, I received an email greeting from Dragan and exchanged few interesting emails. Gotta luv the personal touch.  :thumb:

I hope Dragan's site grows to be a big player. I'll keep coming back, that's for sure.

After listing a couple of items here and Audioasylum with no luck I listed on Audiogon. Sold within days. Even though one of the buyers used the "Make Offer" feature, all other arrangements were direct. It's been a week or two now and I'm still waiting for Agon to ask for the commission. Not sure how they are going to figure the actual sale price. Still waiting.
Hifihock may be get the next listing.

If I were to ever list with Audiogon again, here how I will list from now on:

Price of any item will be $1

Shipping will be the actual price of the item.

How do you like them apples!  aa

I thought of that.   :D  Any adds on Audiogon would not offer local pick-up.   :thumb:

I would still offer that on AC and AA.

Thank you timind, I'd appreciate that. I'm going to work my hardest to make it worth everybody's while. The site is coming along just fine and I'm truly grateful for everybody's support and help.

Doesn't sound all that ethical. If you feel that strongly about the site you would be better off not listing there.

Audiovista, thank you for the post and your support. Personal touch that HiFi Hock offers is nothing more then an extension of the passion for music and audio that we all share. I do care very much about the site and it's members.

Thank you again!

I just tried to register at hifihock and was stopped dead in my tracks by the visual CAPTCHA.

And yes, I agree with Wilson's comments, pages are too busy and chock full of links to make non-visual navigation a lot of extra work.

I'll keep my ears open for the new site and hope there is some sort of alternative to CAPTCHA.

And if there are CAPTCHAs when posting ads, or doing other routine functions on the pages, I'll just say that I won't go through the trouble.  Just like I won't use anything but basic google searches, yahoo, etc. -- have to pass the visual troll at every other turn.

The new site is a great improvement, methinks.  I don't know if he has done away with the CAPTCHA's though.  I'll e-mail him to answer via this thread.

Peace,

Lee

I own the product, I should be able to charge whatever I want for it and decide how charges are broken down.

But your intent is to cheat the system.

I agree about cheating their system. Audiogon's attitude toward us sucks but that doesn't justify putting slugs in their meter.

For now, I'm staying away but I have a small credit I will probably use to sell an inexpensive item.

All in all I just don't feel like the game is much fun anymore. I have equipment I don't need but maybe I'll use it someday or pass it off to my kids. Fortunately, I don't really need Audiogon. Do you?

I will agree that it's cheating their system or finding a loop-hole in the system.  Similar to people using the 30% discount from specific vendors for using the "buy it now" on ebay.

Fortunately, I'm in the same boat as you and don't need to sell anything or buy anything.  I'm all set and very happy.  Their (Audiogon's) nonsense goes beyond their fee increases (i.e., censorship of all postings).

So, while I don't have to sell or buy anything, I wouldn't feel bad about exposing a loop-hole in their current system.  To each their own.

So my Druids have been on HiFiHock for days now.  They are still on the "recently listed" page and have been looked at 29 times with 3 of them by me.  This why people use Audiogon.

Exactly!

AG has the most traffic and greatest number of eyes on your gear.
Hence sales are easier.  Over the years, I've sold tons of gear on AG, and virtually none on AC and AA.

Common items like the Paradigm speakers I just listed will sell well on Ebay.  Ebay has a much larger audience.  Companies Rotel, Parasound, B&W and a host of others we all know will sell more easily on Ebay.  Companies like Classe, Krell, Van Alstine, PSB and Vandersteen among others are also common on Ebay.

Ebay isn't my favorite company either but imo Audiogon has gone too far.  Also their censorship policy sucks.
