If you were ever holding out to find a killer deal on one of these pre-amps now is your time.

I bought this pre-amp and a matching balanced power supply to use at the show. I don't need them now as I already own custom versions of each of them.

The wood is a very good looking spalted and figured Maple. The balanced power supply wood front is cut from the same piece of wood as well.

This is the same pre-amp that has gotten all of the rave reviews, and as per the reviews, easily one of the best pre-amps on the market for under $10,000.

As you may know these list for $3,300. I'll take $2,200 for this one.

The balanced power supply is typically $1,200. I'll take $1,000 for it.

Take them both and you can have them for $3,000.

Prices do not include shipping.

Hi
I am interested in the preamp and I have a few questions. Why does it need a balanced power supply, I thought the whole point was that it ran on batteries? It does come with the matching remote? The actual current price for a new one is $2490 not $3300 they have lowered the price on both Audiogon and their website so $2200 is not much of a deal. Could you do any better on the price? What city do you live in in case I would like to pick it up?
Thanks for your time!

Yea, but you still need to plug your amps and front end into something. Why not a matching balanced power supply? If your pre-amp is going to be dead quiet from the battery power, then why not everything else in the system?

This one has a Black remote.

The original price was $3,300. Underwood hifi has marked them down to the new lower price and Dodd Audio now has them at $2,699 on their web site.

I'd entertain offers.

Could I run 2 550 watt digital amps through that power unit plus my preamp and DAC?

Unless you are maxing out those amps at a continuos level then you will be fine. The meter on the front will let you know how much power you are really drawing from it.

Here is a rear panel shot of one of them.

Does it have a toroidal transformer in it for the non-amplifier units?  It's never been clear to me what is going on inside to A.) clean up AC, B.) protect against surge/spikde, and C.) reduce EMI/RFI, if any of these are applicable.

The unit does not use a toroidal transformer. I uses a massive laminated type.
It does however protect against surges and emi/rfi interference.
The input side of the unit has a surge board on it to protect the entire unit from surges and emi/rfi. It has 4 outlets dedicated to the frontend componets which have another protection board just for those 4 outlets. Then there are 4 more outlets that are used for amplifiers. 2 of them are for digital amplifiers, and have yet another protection board for just those 2 and then the final 2 are for analog amps and they utilize the filtering and such from the input side of the unit. The 800 watt rating is very conserative and yes the 800 watt unit could easily handle the 2 550 watt digital amps and the rest of the system, unless you are going to be using it a maximum power for extended amounts of time.
The power supply does exactly what is supposed to do, that is to provide clean, quiet power for your system, and it does this without any colorations to the sonics!

Thanks Gary.  I'd like to try an AC unit that actually made a difference to me.  With all the units I have tried, not many impressed me.  I love the look of the unit and the description sounds like it has the right stuff but it is too expensive for me to experiment with right now. :(

The pre-amp sold right away, but I still have the balanced power supply and will take $900 for it.
