BCD-1 or BDA-1
« on: 23 Oct 2008, 12:15 pm »
Hi ,

Would like to seek your thoughts and advise.

Am wondering if i should get the BCD-1 or get the BDA-1 ?

I think the BDA-1 would be much more flexible, can use with MusicServer and/or my existing CD Player (or even add in my DVD ?).
But can't help thinking the BCD-1 being fully integrated and optimised by Bryston would be much much better sounding than the BDA-1.  Is it going to be a huge difference ?

Thanks,
Steve

Hi,

You can certainly ask around for used units but from our end we have been backordered on the CD Player for over a year.  The BDA-1 was just introduced in July and so far we are running behind constantly. Everytime we almost get caught up we get another batch of orders.

Believe me I am not complaining but the response has been extrordinary.

Hi Steve,

There are some reviews in the works where they will be comparing the DAC to the CD Player.  I think the best advice I can give you now is based on how you see your system evolving in the future.

If you see Redbook CD's as being your main source of software and critical listening source then go with the CD Player.  If you see yourself moving towards multiple digital sources then go with the BDA-1 and use your current CD Player as a Drive only.

Also, the BDA-1 features upsampling...or does this not make a difference?
