  Been looking and thinking about buying for a couple of years and made the move today. Have a old Dyna ST-150 Amp and a Dyna Pat-5 Preamp. Sent them to Frank today for a Insight rebuild. Just about all the music I have is on CD. Been reading and it seems that with the CD a Insight DAC is a must. But I am going to wait and give the new Insight stuff a listen before I make another move. Extreamly excited and can't wait.

You won't be disappointed. Frank's room at the RMAF with his insight gear sounded very,very good. Of course he was driving salk speakers so that gave him an edge over a lot of rooms.

Just my humble opinion,,,but the DAC would have made the biggest Improvement ,,,,
Not that the other stuff won't,,,, BUT the DAC is a MUST!!!!

It's fun to make changes in stages. I also got my amp and preamp first, and four months later bought the DAC. For me it would be hard to say which piece had the most impact, which is why eventually you'll need to get all three.

So was it the AVA gear, the Salk speakers, or the room acoustic that made the sound more superior than the others in the AVA room at the RMAF? What the...

You got that right EV-MAN, the Insight DAC is a must - all three pieces just work together sooo well.

My DAC arrived first and made a huge change in clarity and soundstage presentation. When the Insight pre-amp arrived, it too made an equally dramatic change. The improvements are equally divided between the two components, so whether you start upgrading with one or the other, you can't go wrong.
