FS: vintage JBL L-300 Summits ** sold **
« on: 20 Oct 2008, 06:12 pm »
I have finally got it together to put these beauties up for sale.  This may be a bit long, so bare with me, please.

This pair of L-300 Summits is a 2-owner pair -- both owners being in their 40s when they bought them, have never been shipped, and not seen any dorm room or frat house time.  They are cosmetically immaculate in terms of the walnut veneer and black glass tops.  There is some light flaking of the particle borad on the backs and bottoms, and a tiny bit around some of the screw holes on the front, but otherwise as good as a pair of these as you'll find anywhere.

Grilles are basically in good condition but each has a small (half the size of a pinky nail) wear-through spot on one corner, and one has a slight pull in the fabric, but the fabric is still tight and the original JBL badges are in place.

The acoustic lenss are perfect.

The woofers need re-foaming (*NOT* reconing).  When I moved them to storage one of the acoustic lenss dislodged and fell and poked two large holes in the foam on one woofer but the speakers have not been played since, so there was no chance for a coil rub problem to develop.

The speakers were last played in July of 2006 and sounded great.  They have been used lightly, but consistently throught their lifespan.

I have pictures for anybody who's interested, and will also be listing these on Lansing Heritage.  I figure that's where the real interest will be, but I post here just in case.

I am asking for a starting bid of $2400 and will be taking bids until 12:00 pm, mountain time, October 31.  I'll post updates at reasonable intervals -- probably at least daily.  Buyer will be responsible for crating, insurance, and transportation costs from Boulder, Colorado -- 80304.  There is an excellent crating company locally that estimates no more than $250 to build crates for these.  Speakers weigh 140 pounds each without the crates -- probably figure 500 pounds, give or take, as a total.

Happy bidding,

Jim

Edit: specify ending time and change date as I realized that I won't be here on Nov 1st.

Auction over.  Got a deal I couldn't refuse and the buyer will pick them up.
