FS: Remote Volume Control KIT
« on: 18 Oct 2008, 07:14 am »
For Share: Remote Volume Control KIT

To make a remote volume control is only a dream of mine in 2 years before. But I made it today ^_^
As to traditional ALPS attenuators, I prefer R-2R type digital volume control, ont only for the convenience by remote control, but also the HI-END sound quality.
This volume controller has very low THD because firm resistors consist all the audio path, high quality relays, separated GND L & R, separated GND analog & digital and consideratly PCB routing.

This is a assembled volume controller with 4 sources selector based on high quality Panasonic TQ2-5V relays.
Function & Feature
1.       64 steps volume control without any ‘POP’ noise
2.       4 sources selector
3.       Beautiful LCD display, White code with Blue background
4.       Universal remote handset
5.       Remote / Manual control
6.       Considerate PCB layout, separated L & R ground to get the best crosstalk performance
7.       High quality Panasonic TQ2-5V relays and VISHAY DALE RN55C resistors
8.       Build your balance stereo attenuator easily, you just only need to add another main board
9.       Easy to use. Only +5V DC power supply is needed
10.     Fully test before shipping
Size:
Main board       120 mm * 75 mm
Controller board   80  mm*36 mm

This lit includes:
1.       Controller board with LCD display
2.       Main board
3.       Remote handset
4.       Remote receiver , rotary encoder and connecting cables

USER MANUAL is ready to go ^_^

Ed,

Not yet, just too many projects in line ahead of this. However as my system may not be actively biamped for much longer the need for this (or something like it) will occur.

Mike,

Let us know how this works out for you.  I am going to need something for balanced active use so have been considering this, among others.  I still have concerns about signal loss with the implementation and pops during switching.

Tom,

I'll let you know. He specifically mentions no pops but we'll see. I will take some measurements and see what the results are. It will be a while before I need it but if the Abbey speakers work out well I won't be using the DCX as my volume control though I still have my existing preamp, which is pretty good. I figure at some point I'll concoct something new and this should work out very well for whatever that may be, at least I hope so.

This is spiffy- What does it require for a power supply?

I get requests for remote controls from time to time...
