S-0 is a life style speaker with aluminum cabinet, about the size of a wine bottle. Some people feel that S-1 is too big.Don't expect S-0's sound to be as good as S-1, it will be a "normal, good sounding" desktop speaker. We hope to release it before end of the year.
1. If I have an IND in a room without a computer, can I connect a wireless adapter directly to the IND (along with speakers) and access the music my PC?
2. Does the IND have a headphone jack?
3. Is the S/PDIF coaxial, optical or both?
I saw the demo and it works so we hope to be in production by CES 2009.It is best to use a few examples to describe what this Icon Network DAC does:You have your PC and Icon as desktop audio in your study room. Connect Icon Network DAC (IND for now) in another room either on wired or wireless network (IND is not wireless so you need to connect it a wireless Access Point or those wireless adapter, for less than $50). You can either connect active speaker to IND or another Icon to it. Now you can play your iTune directly to IND in another room. IND will appear just like another local USB Audio device, completely plug and play.Cool, but what if you are in the other room without the PC. With Squeezebox, at least you can stream the music with the Squeezebox client control. Well, we can do better. You can connect a 4-port USB hub to IND and connect a display, keyboard and mouse (or just connect a touchscreen display). And now it becomes a remote display for your PC/Mac. Not only can you control the PC to play music, you can use it just like a network terminal.Wait, there's more. What if you have another PC in the house (very likely, your spouse will have his/her own preference of music) ? This PC can also see IND as a local USB Audio device and play music to it. Wait, there's more. You can connect any standard USB webcam to IND and turn it into a remote wired or wireless webcam.Ok, you can think of other unintended usages for this thing, but foremost, it is a very very good DAC. That's how it got started, we feel that some people might want a dedicated DAC within the Icon family to drive active speaker or connect via S/PDIF out put to your AVP (yes, IND has S/PDIF out too). With Icon, Icon Mobile, Icon Network DAC, now you can really have lots of fun and convenient. I hope every household by a few of these What do you think?
