FS: McIntosh MX-115 modified by Richard Modafferi

I have for sale a McIntosh MX-115 pre/tuner modified by Richard Modafferi of Audioclassics. The unit was serviced and aligned in 02. I have the service paperwork and original owners manual to go along with it. I also have a cabinet for it, but the padlocks aren't correct as I believe they're from a MC-2125. It will hold the unit, but not as secure as the correct panlocks would. In other words, as long as you don't tilt the unit face down, you'll be fine. That shouldn't be attempted with the correct padlocks either though...

The tuner section is very impressive. With a cheapo antenna, I can usually pick up stations in NJ(60+ miles away), and with a room mounted antenna, I should be able to pick up stations in Boston.

The phono section sounds excellent also.

As a pre, it works as it should and has the old school McIntosh sound from that era. Aesthetic wise, there is some minor bubbling on the glass right above the treble knob. Otherwise the unit is in great shape and I'll be sad to see it go.

With cabinet, I'm asking $700, $650 without. Absolutely no shipping unless you send me a McIntosh shipping crate first. Even then, the cabinet will still have to be shipped separately.  I'm located on Long Island, NY.

I have feedback under this name on Audiogon and PolkAudio, feedback under BLOWNGS on Ebay.

Thanks,
Mike
