Harman Kardon 330B Question
« on: 13 Oct 2008, 07:22 pm »
I just picked up a Harman Kardon 330B receiver. It powers up, but no sound comes out. I checked the 2 speaker fuses and they are both open. Before I replace them, can anyone offer any advice as to what I ought to check, or does anyone know of an issue these old receivers had with blowing the speaker fuses? Thanks.

Unfortunately it sounds like the output transistors are blown. If you or someone you know knows electronics take the transsistors out of circuit and check them. On a receiver that old the caps may have also failed which could have taken out the transistors. Sorry for the bad news.

I have that model reciever and they are work horses. I have mine out in my shed and in the summer it gets hot and the winter freezing. I would replace the fuses, hook up some speakers and plug it in and see what happens. I think it is kinda pre-mature to asume the transistors are blown. There are many reasons why fuses will blow.... 8)

Replace the fuses with the same size thats it calls for, then fire her up. If the output transistors are blown it will pop the main fuse for the whole unit. The other two fuses are speaker protection for shorted speaker wire or speakers.
