It's all about when Keith Richards got busted in Toronto (late 70's) for heroin position and faced a few years in a 'hotel' - Lofgren's fear was losing his hero off the music scene for such a length of time.

Actually that's not quite correct.  Note that the song is on Nils' first solo album which came out a couple of years before Keith's 1977 Toronto bust.  It is about wanting Keith to stay healthy (get off the junk), and in concerts after 1977, Nils often added the line "Keith don't go, to Toronto".

Thanks for "reminding" me about Nils! I'll have to pull some of his albums out tomorrow....

"Cry Tough" is a great Nils album as well. Not as good as the self titled 1st album, though.

He is an amazing guitar player but a lot of his lyrics kind of suck.

What exactly about...

"Cry tough, throw that girl on the floor,
Help her up and make her cry for more."

...don't you like? It rhymes!
