Why Isn't EAC tagging my files?
« on: 5 Oct 2008, 06:23 am »
Everything was working fine until I reloaded everything on my computer. Now all I get are the track titles and nothing else. Why why why?

I'd like to know what settings are messed up with EAC. So that all I get when I rip them files to .wav is no ID tags and just the song title in the folder.

Does it grab the tags from Freedb/internet as it loads the cd?  If not, check your freedb/database options under EAC menu (fourth choice down of first menu option in upper left corner, where "file" usually exists).   That online db is where tags are grabbed from.

If you save out your config to a file and then post the contents, we might be able to find the exact problem.  (EAC->Profiles->Save profile)

I don't see anything in my saved profile. I saved whatever it was to my desktop and opened it in notepad--just a buch of garble..

It looks like you'd have to post or e-mail the file itself so we can open it in EAC and view your settings.

If I email it or save it, how do I save it to a post here? I can't even figure out how to look at it on my own computer.

Late to the thread but had a thought... are you ripping discs to .wav and not to a compressed format?  I could be wrong but I didn't think tagging was possible for .wav files so maybe that is the issue?

I had the same problem and ripped a ton of CDs before I noticed no tags. I browse by folder - bad habit.

In my old version of EAC (ver 0.95) there is a checkbox on the main screen that needs to be ticked for the tags to be written. I don't know if it was checked by default, but it got unchecked and wasted a lot of time. Do they still have that same so called "feature?" I switched to dbpoweramp.

Gongos, could you walk us through the solution so others my learn from your journey?  8)

Or did you mean you only figured out how to see your config?
