Here is the room dimension roughly.

25' deep x 12' wide x 8' tall.  Has sloped ceiling around 45 degrees.  Speaker placement is a pain and I need some advice.  I can move my setup around, but I have no idea what to do.  My current setup has some depth, but not much sound stage.

System at the moment is Heresy floor standing (getting parted out and sold), 2 EL84 Mono blocks, Oppo 970, spitfire dac/supplier power supply, Pro-ject 1.2 TT.  I have had about 10 different combo's of equipment, but i have come to the conclusion that its not my system any more its the room. 

I am looking for any help anybody can offer.  I can add treatment, but its difficult with sloped walls.  I can also post pics later.

x are speakers.  Placed about 6' from the top wall.  Sorry for the crude drawings.

Yep, what Doug said.  Play around with speaker position and seating position.  Move them up and back and off center by a foot or so.
Do you have any other furniture in the room?  Your next job will be to get some room treatments.  Acoustic panels on the three first reflection points, behind the speakers, and bass traps in the corners.

Yep, here's what I would do, in this order.

A is for first reflections, that will help with soundstaging/imaging. Obviously the middle one is on the ceiling.

B is some big tricorner traps, stops the corners being big horns.

C is some big bass traps.

Thanks for the info and advice.  The only other thing in the room is the sewing table.  The desk are 3'x6'; this is the hobby room for me and the wife so its a bit cluttered.  My next question is how do i treat an angled wall?  I can treat the 1st 4' no problem since its vertical, but it gets tricky if i need to go higher.

How steep is the angle?

Maybe eye hooks and elastic to hold panels in place. Ideally there is an air gap behind the panel equal to the thickness of the panel but that might be tricky. Could use some dowel or something as stand offs, then elastic to pull the whole thing tight to the wall?

i would extend the first reflection point sound absorption panels continuously up the sloped walls.  due to the slope they may not align exactly with the wertical panels...  you can use a mirror to determine the proper location - where you see the speakers in the mirror from the listening position is where to put the panels...

Ok...plans are in place this week, after my going to ebay cleaning, to modify the room as mention above.  Any DIY sound baffeling plans/projects or some such laying around here somewhere in this forum?

You can put the sewing machine where your system once was. I'd put some diffusion panels on both sides of the windows behind the loudspeakers and 3 panels on the 1st reflection points, walls & ceiling, and you're all set. OR if that ceiling fan is in the way, I'd do 4 acoustic panels for the 2 side walls & 2 side ceilings. Ideally, I'd do both.

Simply use a mirror tight against the wall/ceiling. From your listening position, move the mirror til you can see the loudspeaker drivers. It helps to have a second set of hands.

Some broadband bass absorption in the corners would be of help in general.

Also, if you're up for a healthy DIY project, diffusion on the angled parts of the ceiling can work very nicely in a 2 channel setup.

I already have laid out plans for (4) 4'x4'x6" panels (haven't really decided on size) and (4) 2'x2'xwhatever will fit in my corners. 

Has anybody tried craft faced insulation?  I was going to use 1 'bat of regular and 1 bat of craft faced and staple the craft face to the back panel, but I didn't know if the craft face paper would 'rattle or not....

I made some 4x8 panels using 5" thick cotton bat from http://sensiblesoundsolutions.com with kraft paper facing stapled onto the frame. I was worried about the rattling too, but it didn't happen. The sound of the paper facing is a little bright for me, but everyone else that has heard it thinks it is neutral. It is a nice natural tone which is important if it will cover a large area. I bought 30" wide rolls (I think 60 pound) from a big art supplies store Michaels or something.
