Just recently completed my Aksonics MKI to complement my Aksa 55w.

I've posted a picture on the AudioCircle Gallery.
I would have put a link here if only I could work out what the url is.
Just want to thank Hugh and all those who imparted thier knowledge and experiences in the forums for providing me with valuable information to finish these lovelies.

Cheers

Tony,

This is VERY good workmanship;  your system looks most professional.

Congratulations!!  Nice racking system, too!

Tony, is it NAD 314 integrated sitting there? I have it too, so I wondered how does it compare with your AKSA (mine will be ready in Jan 04)?

It's a Nad 304 but i imagine it's quite similar in most respects.
How do they compare?
The Aksa's in a different league.
I think you'd have to compare the Aksa to something a bit more Hi-Fi to do it justice.
I've only ever owned unexceptional integrated amps so the Aksa is a big leap in terms of how my music sounds now in comparison.
You'll hear so much more of the music through the Aksa.
I don't think I properly heard stereo until I got this amp.
I'm sure you won't be underwhelmed by how good it sounds.

Cheers

Thanks, Tony, I can't wait for my AKSA 55w.
BTW, if you are using pre-amp section of your NAD 304 to feed AKSA, i suggest that you get a decent pre-amp (active or passive) really soon to get the most of your system
Just remove the top cover and have a look at the attenuater - i guess it says it all
For serious (and loud  :) ) listening i connect my tweaked marantz6000ose straight to the power-amp section of NAD - sounds better.

Brgds, Anton

Anton,

Welcome to the forum!  Nice to see you here along with so many other AKSAphiles!

The advice you'll receive here is very, very good, and reflects the enthusiasm for the AKSA which is slowly spreading around the world....

Cheers,

Hugh

What a rack!!

What a cracker of a rack! Neat, simple, cost effective and looks pretty good.  And it looks like you made the shelf panels yourself - nice work!

Could never figure out why so many racking systems and speakers have four adjustable feet when it is a reasonably well understood concept that anything with three feet will always sit flat (but not necessarily level) on an uneven surface. Stability is rarely a drama for racking cause it has such a big footprint.

How is it for stiffness and vibration?  I come from the overbuilt line of thinking (which might explain why my 100N has a 3mm folded steel chassis) so I was thinking 20mm threaded rod running thru 18mm hoop pine ply shelves.......

When the rack is stacked with gear it's fairly solid.
More weight can be added of course.
My floor is very uneven, if I move the rack I can relevel the shelves quite easily.  It works well.
The wood is very straight-grained knot-free fir, the stuff used for drawing tables for it's stability.
Plywood would be the best material to use of course because of it's stability, and with all that glue, weight.
I would have used plywood if I didn't have the fir lying around.
Cost played a part in my choice.
Helps with the Aksas being heavy too!

cheers

Guys - I've noticed a flaw in Tony's rack.
He can't lift the lid to put a record on!
Clearly point-scoring by keeping a turntable
on display

I can't knock him for point scoring............I'm guilty of the same thing!!

I've got Technics linear drive turntable sitting on top of the sideboard, all connected up..................

...and covered with photos and dust.

Is it possible to score points with the lowly Pro-ject debut TT??

Yes it is basically the TNT, but not sure I agree with TNT's idea of using MDF
