Mine had a lot more noise than I wanted. I just hooked up a (ridiculously big but free) 50a 5v switching power supply and now have a 100% blank, flat, black, backdrop, no noise but music ever comes from my speakers now. I have extensive "felix" like filtering too. The linear I think might have more potential if you had Wayne's unit, as I think it gave a little more impact to the sound you got, but overall for the cheap, DIY crowd, I am going to have to go with forget linear for less than several hundred dollars...
