Hello all,
Can someone fill me in on how important it is to get the "right" cubic footage for a sealed box? It seems to me that if it is sealed it wouldnt matter if it was off by a little bit and be more forgiving than a ported set up... and what about stuffing it?

If your box is too small you will lose your low end responce. If the box is too big it cannot handle the power the speaker is rated for, your will get a 'hump' in your responce, the speaker will not sound tight. Do you have the VAS, QMS, QES, RE, FS, and size of your speaker? I can crunch the numbers for you.

that would be awesome to see if the program I downloaded comes up with the same numbers..I havent done it yet: I plan on making them all in independent boxes and have not established which I will keep for my main system, the better sounding will stay and the other I will make another set with other tweets and a passive crossover. My main system will be triamped probably with electronic xover. It was suggested to me by someone here a whole ago to start at .5 cu.ft. in a sealed box for the hivi f6

my first mid (davis 4") will have these specs:  *Re: 6.4 ohms *Le: .53  *Frequency range: 60-3,000 Hz *Fs: 61 Hz *SPL: 87 dB 1W/1m *Vas: .14 cu. ft. *Qms: 2.04 *Qes: .37 *Qts: .31 *Xmax: 2.5

my other mid (hivi f6) will have these specs:   DC resistance: 6.6 ohms * Voice coil inductance: 0.69 mH * Frequency response: 42-4,000Hz * Fs: 42 Hz * SPL: 89 dB 1W/1m * Vas: .83 cu. ft. * Qms: 4.77 * Qes: .41 * Qts: .38 * Xmax: 3.55 mm *


My bass will come from a hivi dg10:   Voice coil inductance: 1.2 mH * Nominal impedance: 8 ohms * DC resistance: 6.7 ohms * Frequency response: 23-2,000 Hz * Fs: 22 Hz * SPL: 88 dB 1W/1m * Vas: 5.88 cu. ft. * Qms: 2.23 * Qes: .5 * Qts: .41 * Xmax: 8.25 mm
