Tubes,
I have received 12 Russian FT-3 caps that you sent through your superlative group buy. I am ecstatic! You have gone above and beyond to offer this excellent bargain to this audio community. My experience with you on this purchase was of the highest order. You have been timely, courteous, and professional in every way. These capacitors will serve to propel several winter projects and audio experiments.

Thank you for providing the spark for me to participate in the DIY experience, the opportunity to acquire the best buy in audio components, and such pleasant repartee. The FT-3s that I have already installed have burn in and are performing as you have described.

May you have many pleasant listening experiences!
Returning many Cheers!
Ron.

All but three orders from the first order have shipped.  These three orders are being held to combine with the second order.  In fact I was told that the first of three boxes of the second order might have shipped out today.

I packed these carefully and expect them to arrive safely.  Let me know when they arrive!

I hope that everyone trying these caps will remember the case is conductive.  Make sure to use shrink wrap or electrical tape to insulate them.  Then let us all know how they sound in your system.

Thanks for all the kind notes.  This has been a much larger project than I originally expected.  Matching your email names to moniker names to paypal names has been a challenge.  Kind of like trying to break the Navajo code used during World War II.  I need a vacation!

If anyone was left out that thought they would like some caps you are in luck.  I have orders pending for 12 caps.  If we get 38 more requests I can do another group buy!  How is that for sado masochism!

Toobs, you are the man :thumb:

I'm certain you'll be hearing from the committee from Stockholm very soon for your humanitarian efforts.

Speaking of taking a music-listening vacation, today I finally get my first day off in 11 and will be doing the same. Raining all day here so I can't cut the wood for the Cornet and Clarinet chassis' but hope my Michael Percy shipment will arrive with the remaining parts needed to stuff the boards. The UX-45s are warming up even as I type this

and the new Walnut Pis, with their nifty official Pi decals will be singing

When I finish this post I think I'll start with some Tim Buckley, the 4 Men With Beards re-issue of Goodbye and Hello.

Well now I've gone an done it -- I put 4 Russky FT-3z bypassing the 4 huge beer can caps in my power amp PS. Had to make room for them because I already have 4.7uF Wima's in there as bypasses. But is not really my fault, Tubes made me do it!

I want to add my thanks to tubesforever as well!!   :thankyou:

He was a complete pleasure to deal w/ the whole way through.  The caps arrived this past Saturday well packed in a little Priority Mail box and held together w/ the little wooden blocks on each side (pretty clever).  I have a couple things in mind for the caps.  To get things rolling, I will be bypassing some of the caps in the tweeter circuit of my speakers.

Thanks again tubes!

I got mine. Thanks, Jim!

I'm planning on bypassing the output and coupling caps in my tube preamp... An Anthem Pre1 than uses 4 6922s in a mu-follower circuit. They are Wima MKP caps. My 6550/KT-88 amp uses .22 uF Mundorf SIO coupling caps, I'm not sure I want to try to bypass them.... any suggestions whether its worth trying?

Dave,

The teflons as a parallel cap to my Mundorf SIO caps are just illuminating.  There is a lot more clarity, more volume, and a great deal more dynamics.  I love these SIO caps and to have them sound even better still was a surprise to me.

If your casework allows you to spin them in then try them and report back to us.

I used a pair of teflons with my Bedini 150 MK II and it now easily outperforms my tube amp--which really gripes me.

I plan to add the teflons in my tube amp this winter when I replace all the electrolytics and film caps.

I would say PLAY with them.  Let your ears be the judge.  So far they have dramatically improved the sonics in all the gear I have evaluated.

I hope you will let us know how they work in your system!  Dave isn't DIY fun.....sometimes.....?  I have been accused more than once of modifying first and throwing caution to the wind.  However actually I am very deliberate and very careful.   These teflons have turned my system into much more than I though I could ever achieve with the dollars I have invested.  I hope they do the same for yours!

Mine were delivered this afternoon. :D

This group buy was certainly well organized and implemented!!

Thanks again, Jim :thumb:

Hmmm.... Now where to install the first ones . Maybe as output cap bypasses for my DAC. Come to think of it the Mapletree could have room for some of these. Perhaps my old/new Heathkit KT66 monoblocks would care to have a taste of Teflon? aa

Tubes,

I've a significant amount of playing time on these FT-3s and my experience is similar to yours. That is that initially the dynamics of the music seem almost accentuated but with time (burn in) the sound settles into a very open and revealling sonic. They virtually disappear but I don't think I want to remove them because it is nice having a component "disappear" without adding any characteristic to the sound. I am very satisified with what the FT-3s have provided for the enjoyment of the music.

A sincere "Thanks!"

It's my experience after installing the FT3's in my DAC that it took about 50 hours for them to settle down. I did hear the crackling sound for awhile and they seemed to accentuate the highs esp. around the 25 hr. mark, everything was sorta hyper defined . Yesterday I left my system on overnight and late this morning they had a break through, the harshness and rough edges had mostly disappeared and now I'm hearing their potential greatness :thumb: I'm looking forward to further improvement as time passes.
