Announcing the new INSIGHT solid state series!
« on: 24 Sep 2008, 03:05 pm »
The complete new Insight solid state series; amplifiers, preamplifiers, and DAC, are now available and shipping.

Our web site, avahifi.com has been updated to show all the new products.

Note that we have not had time to list the Transcendence Eight vacuum tube DAC yet.  It is an all tube DAC that the owners just love.  The price is $1249.  Again call me for details.  It will have its own page at our web site soon.

Prices have not be updated yet.  They must go up about 15 percent as of 11/1/08.  The new Insight products are still available at the old OmegaStar prices until then.  The new prices will be posted very soon.

Questions?  Call me at 651-330-9871.

Bug hunters!  We very much appreciate your help. How about a 5 percent discount for each bug you find at our web site and report to us.  Only one discount per unit will apply.  Please reply by e-mail and provide enough detail so we can find and fix the bug.  Happy hunting.

Best regards,

Frank Van Alstine

Very nice update to the whole line Frank.

Maybe a "bug" - The "mouse over" doesn't seem to work for me on the 3 Insight integrated amp pictures at http://www.avahifi.com/root/equipment/control_amplifier/index.htm

Great talking with you this morning Frank. The links to the Biro Kensington sub and Biro homepage no longer work. Getting the 404 not found page. Is this a bug?

The picture of the rear of the Insight integrated amp still says Omegastar Control Amplifier.

Here are 2 bugs that I have emailed to you:

Bug1 on this page:

http://www.avahifi.com/root/equipment/preamplifier/insight_pat5.htm

it says:

The Insight hybrid buffered circuit Pat-5 rebuild is available as a kit or factory wired only.

Unless you have reconsidered offering the PAT-5 Insight in kit form, this should say "factory wired only".

You could still offer it as a kit and solder the surface mount chips there.  If it is a matter of taking the time to write up the instructions, I have an old Stock PAT-5 that I could install a kit into and I would be happy to write up the instructions for you if you wanted to still offer it as a kit.

Bug2 on this page:

http://www.avahifi.com/root/equipment/preamplifier/comparison_grid.htm

If you click the picture of the Insight SL preamp it tries to load this page which does not exit (404 error)

Another one:

On this page:
http://www.avahifi.com/root/equipment/amplifier/out_of_production/super70i_rebuild.htm
It says "consider two Super 70i amplifiers run bridged mono with our OmegaStar bridge"
It should say "Insight Bridge".  Also the words "OmegaStar Bridge" link to this incorrect page:
http://www.avahifi.com/root/equipment/amplifier/insight_240.htm
They should link to this page:
http://www.avahifi.com/root/equipment/bridge/index.htm

Frank,

The link, "Do you already own a Super70i" on:

http://www.avahifi.com/root/equipment/amplifier/ultimate70.htm

just refreshes the same page.

Also, on:

http://www.avahifi.com/root/equipment/amplifier/hafler_amp_rebuild.htm

clicking on the Hafler DH-200 photo, takes you to the Insight SF Hybrid Stereo Phase Inverter Bridge page:

http://www.avahifi.com/root/equipment/bridge/index.htm

On page:

http://www.avahifi.com/root/equipment/kit_buying_guide.htm

Kits for Dyna Rebuilds, the link "Super Pas Three Rebuild" takes you to

http://www.avahifi.com/root/equipment/preamplifier/dyna_preamps.htm

instead of:

http://www.avahifi.com/root/equipment/preamplifier/super_pas_3_rebuild.htm

I'll keep searching.

"For over 15 years we wrote a newsletter chok full of primers,..." "chok" should be spelled "chock."

Page:

http://www.avahifi.com/root/equipment/preamplifier/ultra_ec.htm

end of first paragraph, "recalibrated for very high current 6N1P line tubtes." Should read "...6N1P line tubes."

Same on:

http://www.avahifi.com/root/equipment/preamplifier/UltraSL.htm

Various pages spells "motherboard" as two separate words,"mother board."

Incomplete sentance on "Power Amplifier Buying Guide" page:

http://www.avahifi.com/root/equipment/amplifier/index.htm

"AVA amps are super fast—they have infinite slew factors (confirmed by the late Leonard Feldman in an Audio magazine review – reprint online at www.avahifi.com). The clarity and detail you hear with an"

Greeting page:

http://www.avahifi.com/root/about/greeting.htm

references OmegaStar instead of Insight.

Site map really messed up. All instances of links with the word "Insight", e.g. "Insight Dac", takes you to:

http://www.avahifi.com/root/equipment/amplifier/insight_240.htm

It should be a single link and not split.

Frank:

The new pages look great.  I noticed that a lot of repairs have been made.  However, on this page, the “title,” at the very top of the browser window, still refers to “OmegaStar 200 Control Amp,” although the page is for the Insight Integrated Control Amplifier.

http://www.avahifi.com/root/equipment/control_amplifier/index.htm

Actually, the titles for every amplifier page refer to OmegaStar rather than Insight.

Additionally, under the pull-down menu for products, then under amplifiers, the selection for the Insight amplifiers refers to Insight EX Amps, but you don’t otherwise appear to use the EX designation anymore for the Insight amps.

I also sent this information by email.

At

http://www.avahifi.com/root/equipment/amplifier/insight_amps.htm

I found this one: in the description of the Insight 260H, there is the statement
<<The "hc" stands for high current>>.

Actually, it should be rephrased as <<The "H" stands for high current>>.

The same thing happens at

http://www.avahifi.com/root/equipment/amplifier/insight_260h.htm

Did I gain my 5% ? :-)

Another bug:

On this page
http://www.avahifi.com/root/equipment/index.htm
Clicking on the link named "Preamplifiers" links back to the same page (above).
 It should go to:
http://www.avahifi.com/root/equipment/preamplifier/index.htm

Are the prices going up for all AVA gear, or just the Insight series?

I'm guessing it applies to all AVA products. Looking at the website makes one realize that AVA hasn't adjusted pricing in over two years. The musicality of this gear, to me, more than justifies the necessity, and the reward.

Have fun,
Jerry

It's been longer, some pieces such as the 550 didn't even get a price increase when the Ultra line came out. Probably been 4-5 years. No increase on the T8 and Ultra pre's and the Ultra DAC when he made the 6N1P upgrade either.
