Lorelei and tube amplifier?
« on: 23 Sep 2008, 04:39 pm »
Hello, I have an Eastern Electric M520 integrated amp, its an 24W, push-pull, pentode amplifier. I'm very happy with the amp, but I want to upgrade my speakers (Monitor Audio RS6), and I have read great things about the Lorelei. The question is:

Would the Lorelei be a good match for the Eastern Electric M520?

OK here's what happened to me once (lets hope only once forever)
I lost both monoblocs, and had to have them rebuilt. In the meantime I drug out my trusty old Anthem Amp 1, and drove it with my Candella. I use the new version of the Lorileis, and the Anthem just cruised thru them. Tobe exact it never sounded as good! Now I don't play my music at a 110 db., but do play at normal listening levels. The Anthem amp is rated at 40 watts, and the volume knob never got past the one third mark for whatever it's worth.

English is not my first language, I'm much more confortable writting than speaking on the phone. Thought about emailing Klauss but I've read it's not the best method to reach him. I hope I can get help from some of you Lorelei owners, and if I get lucky, Klauss might chime in.

It's good to hear this, maybe my 25W would be enough. My listening levels are pretty modest (high 80's in dB),  and the room is 15' by 27' with 9' ceilings, also manageable.

Thanks

I have run the Lorelei with a Shindo setup (Aurieges + Montille) and it sounds wonderful, just 15W of tube power

cheers

Thank you for sharing your experience. I also received a Klaus PM telling me it should work fine. I'm pretty much convinced this could be the way to go. I'll try to audition the Loreleis here in Mexico.
