need help, vintage rockola model "B"

This unit has a magnavox 128 D P/P 6V6 amp, 4 pcs 6V6, 2pcs 5Y3, 1pc 12at7, and 1 Pc 6AV6 on the pre/phonostage.
This is a plug and play later model upgrade for the original model "B" guts which are long gone.
trying to find some data on this amp.
Started out that it had originally worked but a hum developed.
The first composite cap out of the rectifier is a 30/10uf. The 30uf section is inop.
I dropped a suitable cap in and was watching the voltage that never staiblized and then the replacement cap released a puff of smoke.
Obviously we still have a ground.
All tubes checked out, FWIW, on a hickok.
I unsoldered the output caps coming from the 12at7 and they looked good.
Looking for a resource, yahoo group for this?
I used a load resistor on the output as well.
Regards, Bill
