Very interesting.  I have seen a couple of performances at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall and have never been very impressed.  Of course, I have been an "audiophile" for only a few days now but it does change one's perspective (just kidding).

I think it was about this time last year that I saw Yo-Yo Ma and the National Symphony Orchestra there.  Yo-Yo Ma was quite good.  Very intense and animated, but the sound was lacking, somehow.  Same thing with the orchestra.  I could barely hear the wind instruments and horn section, which were in back, but the strings, particularly violins, were overwhelming.  I thought that it was planned that way, for as I remember there were only three or four brass instruments.  From my new perspective I see that it may have been the auditorium more than the orchestra.  Or even just my particular seat.
