Adding a sub to PMC AML1's
« on: 18 Sep 2008, 09:13 pm »
Hi,

I'm a new member and was hoping if someone could explain to me how I could add a sub to my PMC AML1 active speakers?  Do I need something like the Brston crossover?

Many thanks.

I just sent you a personal message to your Audiocircle mailbox.

For anyone else reading this post,  I recommend PMC's TLE-1 active subwoofer to match their other speakers.    I currently run a pair of FB1+ with the TLE-1 sub and just love it.    I imagine the TLE-1 would go nicely with AML-1's as well.

Hi,

Having just looked at the PMC website - they recommend the SB100 to partner the AML1's. Sorry I should have been clearer in my first post.  My system is a very simple one; Apple Mac Mini > Lavry DA10 > PMC AML1.

I have moved my system to a larger room and I now need a touch more 'controlled' bottom end, that only a sub will give me.  If I add the SB100 which is passive, I will need to add a Bryston amp and given the nature of my system, would I need to add a Bryston crossover?

Thanks,

Monty

I'm pretty sure you would need to add both an amp and seperate crossover box such as the Bryston sub crossover.  If you post your question over in the Bryston owners circle here at Audiocircle,  you might get more info. from James Tanner of Bryston or other users.   Good luck!
